Visitor trophy at Morecambe and Heysham Yacht Club

by Morecambe and Heysham 19 Sep 2005 08:33 BST 17-18 September 2005

This weekend saw 25 boats competing in Morecambe Bay for the visitor trophy. Greeted by varied breeze conditions, the occasional sunny spell and a very welcoming club, everyone enjoyed a great weekends sailing with 4 races in a wide range of wind and tidal conditions.

Mark Fearnley and Chris Spicer in their rapid 59er meant business from race one and proved faster and more consistant than everyone else!

A good turnout of ospreys meant for some close tactical racing all wkend with Alec Mamwell and crew from Kielder water proving the most consistant. Other worthy mentions must go to first junior Robert Holmes, member of the north zone topper squad and Mark Dexter for first laser. Special thanks must also go to the various people involved in organising and running the weekend.

Next year see's the 70th anniversary for the club and a large event is promised so keep a look out for the date!
