Harrogate's sailing club gets ready to welcome visitors to its Open Day on Saturday May 21st with activities for all the family, including a free taster sail.

Ripon Sailing Club, located in Farnham, Knaresborough, is an RYA Champion Club and one of the area's best kept secrets - it is among the best family-friendly clubs in the UK and prides itself on catering for all the family, whatever their age or sailing ability.

The Open Day, 10.30 – 4.30 p.m. on Saturday May 21st, will offer visitors the chance to enjoy a free taster sail with one of the club's experienced instructors, have a guided tour of the clubhouse and facilities, talk to club members and see some of the Junior sailors in action on the water in the afternoon.

Visitors last year were excited to discover this 'hidden gem' on their doorstep "Everyone was really friendly and it was great to be taken out on a boat. We didn't know we had a sailing club nearby and we're thrilled to find out about this exciting new activity."

The Club is one of the most successful Youth & Junior Sailing Clubs in the country and in 2015 brought home regional, national and world championship titles. Children can learn to sail on RYA training courses from age 7 and the club runs regular coaching activities throughout the year so that young sailors can build their sailing and racing skills, make friends and have fun.

The RYA 'Push The Boat Out' Open Day initiative is in its 5th year and Ripon Sailing Club is looking forward to participating in this exciting national initiative and welcoming visitors to come and see their local sailing club.
