New Ray52 VHF brings convenience and peace of mind on the water

The newest addition to Raymarine's line of fixed-mount radios is the compact Ray52 VHF with built-in GPS receiver. The Ray52's ultra-compact size makes it perfect for crowded helms because it can fit just about anywhere. Its oversized controls and big backlit LCD display make it easy to use, day or night.

Why VHF with a built-in GPS? It's all about safety and convenience. Like all fixed mount marine VHF radios sold today, the Ray52 features Class D Digital Selective Calling (DSC). DSC can be used to silently hail another DSC-equipped vessel or to easily transmit your vessel position to another boat. In an emergency, DSC-equipped radios also instantly transmit a distress call with your vessel name and location to other vessels and the authorities in the area. This valuable safety feature only works when if your VHF radio is either interfaced to a GPS or has a GPS receiver built in.

The Ray52's built-in 72 channel GPS receiver makes it DSC-ready right out of the box. There is no need to connect it to any other onboard electronics. The only mandatory setup step is to enter your boat's MMSI number into the radio to complete the DSC activation. Once that is complete, you are ready to participate in the DSC system for both convenience and safety.

The new Ray52 will be arriving in Raymarine dealers around the world starting this month. RRP £250 inc VAT.
