Sailors were greeted with glorious sunshine and fresh Easterly for the first race in the Wildwind Wednesdays Early Points Series at Lymington Town Sailing Club.
Race Officer Mark Barwell, was joined in the starting box by Simon Morgan of Wildwind, title sponsor for the series, making sure everyone was well behaved and started the right side of the line.
As the 32 boats across three fleets headed out in to the Western Solent they were met with gusts of up to 28 knots, on a flooding tide, so a nice bit of wind against tide action to break them into the series.
After a 40mins blast around the Solent for the leaders, sailors headed back to shore to where the new changing rooms, with plenty of hot showers were welcomed. Hot food and drinks were also enjoyed, as competitors start to look forward to warmer nights in the coming weeks!
The fast fleet was won by the ever consistent Luke and Emma McEwen in their recently launched new RS800, the medium fleet by Robbie Boyd in his laser, showing his winter training is paying off and William Homewood, which despite a keen start and being recalled, went onto win the slow fleet.
Racing continues Wednesday 27th April, with the first start time not before 1820. Remember to put your Wildwind sticker on your boat, best photo from the series will win a prize!
