Overview
RS Sailing is a successful dinghy sailing brand vibrant in over 50 countries worldwide.
The full time Event Coordinator role would be responsible for planning, implementing and wrapping up RS events, from Boat Shows to supporting the 'RS Sailors' (previously known as the RS Class Association). There is opportunity to travel as the majority of our events happen outside of the UK.
You will report to the Marketing Manager, based at RS HQ as well as working with RS Sailors on events.
Event Attendance
A detailed list of events will be shared with you on successful appointment of the role as this can vary per year but guaranteed events include:
Boat Shows: London Boat Show, Dinghy Show, Southampton Boat Show (UK) Paris Boat Show (FRA) Dussledorf Boat Show (GER) Annapolis Boat Show (US)
Championship Events: RS Feva World Championships, RS Tera World Championships, RS Aero World Championships (all outside the UK)
Major Events: RS Aerocup, RS Class UK National Championships, Cowes Week
Event Administration
- Extensive prior event planning, implementation and event wash up
- Sponsor management – point of contact and hosting
- Press – writing daily press releases, conducting interviews, ensure results are live
- Prizes and merchandise (entry packs)
- Photo and video management
- Logistics – charter boats, transport, accommodation for staff
- RS Sailors support – assist with registration, measurement, prize giving
Additional Support for RS Sailors
- Schedule, write and send targeted mailouts to database
- Liaise with designer to create posters/promotional material for events
- Coordinate Volvo allocation (other sponsor activity) for events for all classes
Website, Social and Online media
- Assisting RS Sailors with website updates (usually only RS Feva International)
- Social Media Strategy for events – preparing and scheduling facebook posts, assisting RS Sailors where necessary
- Ensuring press releases are posted on RSsailing.com
- Monitoring relevant websites / social media to share to our page
The successful candidate will have the following attributes:
- Social media knowledge
- High levels of administrative detail
- Organised and logical
- Able to work on your own initiative
- Creative writing
- Experience of organizing events an advantage
- Sailing knowledge would be extremely advantageous
- Confident, professional manner
- Excellent computer literacy, able to write reports
- The role would include a certain amount of weekend work and travel
- Valid passport and driving license
