Cyclops Marine 2023 November - LEADERBOARD

D-Ones at the RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show

by Nick Craig 4 Mar 2016 13:36 GMT Stand C4, 5-6 March 2016
The 2016 D-One Europeans will be held at Lake Lipno © D-One Association

The D-One class will be at the RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show and the place to be at 3pm on Saturday! There will be a D-One cake (not quite lifesize!) and snacks as the 2015 travellers prize draw takes place. In 2015 we had some incredible sponsorship from Suntouched Sailboats, Spinlock and Devoti Sailing. In typically inclusive style, every entrant to a 2015 D-One traveller event has a ticket in the pot with a shiny, brand new spinnaker at stake thanks to generous sponsorship by Suntouched Sailboats.

This will power the lucky winner into what looks like a fantastic 2016 of D-One sailing!

We are proud to announce the 2016 national championships will be held in fine English Riviera town of Torquay. This premier south coast venue has extensive experience in running national and international events. Tor Bay is a beautiful part of the country and a fantastic location for sailing. Home of the 1948 Olympics, the Royal Torbay Yacht Club has played host to major World and National Events up to the present day. It remains a very hospitable and friendly club with fantastic facitility and easy launching slip into a protected harbour. The club will help us hold our class AGM on the evening of Saturday 18th July with a meal and social to follow.

Our full 2016 UK programme is:

  • 2/3 April = Early Open @ Oxford
  • 23/24 or 16/17 April = Weir Wood [training Sat + Open Sun]
  • 7/8 May = POSH, Paignton
  • 17-19 June = Europeans @ Lipno, CZE
  • 25/25 June = Beach Regatta @ Gorleston (home to largest GBR-fleet)
  • 8-10 July = Nationals @ Torquay (RTYC)
  • 30/31 July = Lymington Regatta
  • 6/7 Aug = Lyme Regis
  • 3/4 Sep = Open @ Thorpe Bay (Southend)
  • 15-18 Sep = Gold Cup @ Garda, ITA
  • 22/23 Oct = Northampton Inlands

We also have some great international regattas lined up in some of the World's greatest sailing venues. The European Championships will be hosted by the Czechs on Lake Lipno at Yacht Club Jestrabi.

The Gold Cup will return to the home of the D-One class, Riva Del Garda from September 15-18. This is the perfect place for the upwind refinement and downwind pace of the D-One to shine in the warm Garda breeze. 40+ entrants from 7 countries are expected with après sailing pasta and a social programme planned in this picturesque location.

Please do visit us in the Great Hall, stand C4, especially at 3pm on Saturday!
