New range of through deck blocks from Allen Brothers © Allen Brothers
A new range of through deck blocks for racing sailboats from the leading performance sailing hardware manufacturer, Allen Brothers, delivers enhanced performance with reduced weight, by using Allenite Metal Replacement Composite. Moving away from stainless steel to composite has not resulted in any loss of strength, in fact the performance of the dynamic bearing gives increased load ability.
Allen through deck blocks are available in both single and double formats and 20 and 30mm sheave diameters, the blocks are light in weight, yet strong and durable and offer high wear resistance. The Allenite material is inert and carbon friendly and the block's smooth ergonomic design and smooth edges minimises any risk of snagging the lines.
Fitting into the deck is made easier thanks to full radius ends and a flush centre rivet, so you only need to drill two holes and join them together for a neat installation. Allen Brothers' R&D team recognised that the singles could also be used as mast sheave boxes by replacing the composite dynamic bearing sheave with either stainless steel or aluminium for applications where wire halyards are being used.
Allen through deck blocks and sheave boxes will be exhibited at METS trade, Amsterdam from 17-19 November on the Allen Brothers stand 03.206 in the British Pavilion.
