RS Sailing proudly unveils the new RS Quest dinghy at the 2015 Southampton Boat Show. Designed by Jo Richards and RS Sailing in conjunction with Sea Cadets, the RS Quest offers a fantastic new platform for sailing schools and programmes to get people afloat. Being lightweight, low maintenance, available with asymmetric or symmetric spinnaker, amazing cockpit space and stable hull shape, it will set a new standard in both training and leisure sailing.
Sea Cadets is a national charity that helps young people find confidence and inspiration through nautical adventure and RS Sailing is privileged to be involved with them.
"Working with the Sea Cadets to develop a new boat to replace the ageing fleet has been great. I really believe the RS Quest will be an excellent addition to the Sea Cadet fleet."
Alex Southon – MD – Technical & Operations
The Cadets were involved in all aspects of the development and gave first hand feedback to help shape the design of the dinghy. This, combined with the many years of experience of Jo Richards and RS sailing, has ensured the RS Quest is light enough to manoeuvre with confidence, can hold up to four people and offers a simple yet effective spinnaker system (both symmetric and asymmetric) for versatile use in enclosed waters.
At just over 14ft long, the RS Quest can be positioned between the award-winning and internationally recognised RS Feva (predominantly sailed by youths for training and racing) and the larger family dinghy, the RS Vision.
For anyone learning to sail, their first time afloat needs to be exciting, enjoyable and safe. The RS Quest promises to deliver an unforgettable learning experience, whilst providing the highest level of safety. Key features onboard will also allow for advanced skills to be honed.
The RS Quest, with an attractive UK launch price of only £4480, offers fantastic value for money and will enable more families to take to the water. The developments described above will be of benefit to the recreational sailors as well as training establishments.
The small family boat revolution starts on stand E045 at the Southampton Boat Show.
The RS Quest will be officially launched on Friday 11th September at 1645 on the RS Sailing stand E045 - Southampton Boat Show.
