World Childhood Foundation

The World Childhood Foundation was founded in 1999 by Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden together with 14 co-founders. Since then the foundation has been committed to defending the rights of children and to promote better living conditions for vulnerable and exploited girls and boys at risk all over the world. Children should have the opportunity of developing into strong, secure and responsible human beings. They all have the right to a carefree childhood and to a safe environment without violation of their personality.

Childhood is organised into four foundations in Sweden, Brazil, the US and Germany, which each look after different projects all over the world. Effective usage of the available resources can be ensured due to close collaboration of the foundations.

Childhood does not carry out their own projects but rather they cooperate with national, regional and local NGOs. Each project is examined for its eligibility by experts who also accompany the initiatives further on their way.

Childhood acts as a liaison between donors and aid organisations. The necessary funds are being obtained from partnerships with companies, private donors and from marketing and fundraising events.

Thanks to donations from companies and individuals Childhood is presently supporting more than 100 projects in 17 countries and thus contributes to the protection of the children. The foundation increasingly cooperates with project partners who pursue an innovative, holistic and measurable approach. Childhood is proud that each donated Euro is used in an effective way to help children all over the world.
