Magic Marine Topper Nationals at Largs Sailing Club - Day 3

Day 3 is the final day of qualification for the gold/ silver split at the record breaking Magic Marine Topper Nationals at Largs. With many people carrying a black flag today was not for the feint hearted.

Once again the wind would not settle so the main fleet were held ashore. This allowed the Regatta fleet the run of the Cumbrae Channel. After the racing which Hannah Paris is leading from Alexander Geeson (from Jebel Ali sailing club in Dubai) and Lucy Jackson, they had a sail to Cumbrae for a game of boat polo amongst many other fun activities. The Regatta fleet manager, Arthur Marshall, never fails to deliver a fun packed week.

Eventually the main fleet got on the water and the first flight got away, but the breeze died and it was impossible for the great Ken Falcon to get the next flight away for over an hour. But just as frustration was going to take over the wind settled in the North West at 8Knots and the second flight got away the races were won by Bleddyn and Eifion Mon. Once the second flight returned Ken was able to get a second race underway and the two flights were won by Bleddyn and Ben Palmer.

After 6 races and the qualifying series is complete the leader board is dominated by the Welsh Mon brothers followed by two Scots Peter Irwin and Callum Calder. The points excluding the discard are now halved and carried forward to the 3 day, 8 race, Championship Series, with 127 boats in the Gold Fleet.
