Topper World Championships at Riva del Garda - Day 4

by Elena Giolai 23 Jul 2015 21:52 BST 20-25 July 2015

It was "no go" today at the Topper World Championships taking place at Fraglia Vela Riva, Riva del Garda - Italy.

A string of early afternoon thunderstorms on nearby Mount Baldo blocked the thermal south wind leaving the entire Upper Garda area with no wind and a lot of heat.

After waiting until 17.00 the competitors finally gave up and returned on land with no races accomplished.

So it's all to play for tomorrow as it's the final day and the second discard will be applied which will maybe shake up the overall standings in the 5.3 category.

In the running for the title are Fraglia Vela Riva's Vittorio Gallinaro, Geoff Power of Ireland, Niamh Harper of G.B. and the other Italian Patrick Zeni (Fraglia Vela Malcesine).

Since tomorrow is the last chance to race, racing is scheduled to start at 8.00 to take advantage of the morning's northerly wind.
