Over the weekend of Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th June 2015, Horning Sailing Club was host to the Yeoman & Kinsman National Championship, held on Hoveton Little Broad.

Attracting seventeen competitors, including five visitors from local club Norfolk Broads Yacht Club and further afield from Erith Yacht Club in Kent, racing was close across the fleet with three different winners of races over the weekend, these three sailors going on to take the top three places overall.

In stark contrast to the last time the Nationals were held at HSC in 2013 where the winds were gusting 40mph on both days, winds this time were light and variable, with better sailing on the Saturday afternoon when the sun shone too. George Whitefoot (HSC) and Richard Whitefoot sailing Fire Opal pulled out an early lead in the first race, to drop back in the second, before recovering well on the Sunday with a second, third and fourth to take third place overall and the Scots Salver.

Bill and Diana Webber of NBYC sailing Swift, relative newcomers to the Yeoman fleet, found their form in the second race, pulling out an impressive lead during the first lap and taking the first of three wins, which would lead to the title overall, winning the Moores Trophy and J & N Trophy for Crew for their efforts.

A consistent performance from Paul Clarke and Mario Tinge (HSC) with a win, two seconds, a third and a fourth, was rewarded with second overall and the Chairman's Trophy.
