Island Sailing Club Evening Racing Series - Day 9

16 June 2015
62 boats turned out for the ninth race in the Island Sailing Clubs Tuesday night series. After forecasts of light and variable winds a steady force four West South West breeze filled in and combined with a flat sea it made for ideal sailing conditions.
With starts to the West the competitors had a strong East going tide to contend with this gave the Class 1 Boats a longer than usual race with Xinska Bernard Olesinski and R Morgan's X 40 winning by 33 seconds closely followed by Graham Deegan in Akarana 3.
Class 2 had a shorter race with the first boat Mouflon Noir Roy Lamden finishing in under an hour. Three Sonars did not finish having been caught out by the strong tide on the initial beat but Barry Byham led the fleet home with Trish Rooke the first ISC sonar to finish.
It was pleasing to see a good turnout from the XODs and Flying Fifteens.
