With just over a week to go the D-Zero fleet are eagerly anticipating their inaugural UK National Championships that are taking place alongside SailFest 2015 at Calshot over the Whitsun bank holiday weekend.

So far 23 eager sailors have signed up with several looking to enter once they have checked the forecast and obtained weekend passes from their nearest and dearest. Several of these entries are from people who have either chartered boats from our friends at Suntouched Sailboats, Devoti's UK Distributor, or have managed to borrow a boat from a D-Zero owner who cannot make the event.

At the sharp end of the fleet Dan Holman, the boats designer, looks to be facing some stiff competition from the likes of Stuart Jones (of Contender fame), Ian Morgan (of Laser fame) and David Summerville (formerly of Laser fame and the D-Zero Midlands sales agent). Although if the recent open meeting at Emsworth Slipper is any indication then there are several sailors from the mid-fleet who could find themselves mixing it with the leaders.

There are also rumours that Adrian Brunton (of Finn fame) and Rodney Cobb (also of Finn fame and owner of Suntouched Sailboats) will be seen out on the water and enjoying the racing. Will Adrian be able to show the form he showed at the Grafham Open meeting and challenge the leaders? Can Rodney show the young upstarts in the fleet a trick or two?

There is also a Prize Draw taking place for all D-Zero entries where you could win four days of 1-to-1 coaching and accommodation for the winner and their partner at Vila Real de Santo António in Southern Portugal. Suntouched Sailboats have also generously agreed to donate up to £100 towards the cost of flights.

Still sitting on the fence? Then perhaps the class dinner on the Sunday evening might tempt you, this is included as part of the entry fee. So why not come and join the rest of the D-Zero class for their Nationals at Calshot over the Whit bank holiday weekend and see what the buzz is all about?
