Bull 7000 National Championships Overall

by John Barber 17 Jul 2000 21:11 BST

Sussex Yacht Club, Shoreham

Local co-owners Jill and Robin Stevenson in 'Cow's Rig', with crew Neil Prescott, Mark Dooly, and Ian Braham, won the Bull 7000 National Championships in Shoreham with a first and second place on the last day.

With 8, 8,& 9 points after Day 4, Cow's Rig, Hullabullo 2, and NoBull Pursuit had everything to play for on the final day. The perfect sailing conditions made a fine end to a great week - thanks to Jill Stevenson for her excellent organisation of the event.

In the first race, the oysters of the Sussex YC 'Fruits de Mer' night propelled Patrick Marshall's Rampage first to the windward mark ahead of eventual race winner Cow's Rig. In the second race, Lesley White in Bullwinkle turned in her best performance of the week, second at the windward mark. Phil Allen won in Hullabulloo 2, but Cow's Rig secured a safe second place to consolidate her event victory.

Final Results:

1 Cow's Rig 11pts
2 Hullabulloo 2 13pts
3 NoBull Pursuit 14pts
4 Rampage 28pts
5 Hullabulloo 31pts
6 Bullrush 33pts
7 Bullwinkle 51pts
