Six British 405's travelled to Aarhus in Denmark for the Danish National Championship. The four days of the event were held in generally light to medium winds, blue sky and brilliant sunshine. Although the sailing area was non tidal there were strong currents which made racing more challenging.

At the end of the first day the Danes had the lead, but Will Twemlow and Olly Hatton were close behind in second place. The day finished with the wind dropping just as the first boat finished leaving all but 6 of the boats out of time.

Day 2 was more of the same, leaving the Danish teams still leading and Will and Olly dropping down to 3rd.

Day 3 Race 1, began with two general recalls, R.O. hoisted a Black flag which was a key part to the final results, it remained up for the remainder of the event. Even at the 3rd start 3 boats were over the line. Race 2 resulted with two British boats in the top 3. 2nd place Sophie Tuckwood and Holly Jones, 3rd, Alex Summerfield and Peter Perera.

On the last day Emil Llandry from Denmark had secured 1st place but only 5 points separated 4th and 8th place. Will and Olly won their second race of the week which moved them up to 2nd. The final race of the regatta was a convincing win from Ed Robbs and Sally Weston leading from start to the finish.

The Regatta was great fun, great competition, and the final highlight came meeting Ben Anslie at Stanstead Airport as we arrived back in the UK.

Overall Results:

1st DEN 2 Emil Llandry & Kenni Nielsen
2nd GBR 360 Will Twemlow & Olly Hatton
3rd DEN 337 Mark Llandry & Mark Christian
