The RYA has teamed up with SportsXstream and SailRacer to provide session recording and live video streaming from the RYA National Race Officials conference which is being held at Wyboston Lakes over the weekend of 7-8 February 2015.

With a growing international presence the RYA National Race Officials conference is held every other year and attracts over 200 delegates.

The theme for this year's conference is 'Decision Making' with five main stage presentations working around this key point. In addition to the main stage sessions, there are another 39 individual workshops covering a wide range of activities from the conception of the Volvo 65 class through to setting up your RIB for race management duties.

Bas Edmonds, RYA Technical and Racing Services Manager commented: "The ability to have our conference experts recorded while talking about their areas of speciality was an excellent opportunity to capture a wide range of knowledge for future use. We plan to work with Race Officials to enable the use of the footage recorded over the weekend for rules talks or to offer specific sections out to clubs to increase the general knowledge of their sailors and officials.

"Another exciting development comes from an increasing level of interest from international officials and we have taken the opportunity, through our partnership with SportsXstream and SailRacer, to look at the options of streaming the conference live over the internet. Given the complexity of the conference, we are currently planning on showing the main stage sessions only but know that this is an opportunity that we can grow when we come back in 2017."

The consortium of SportsXstream and SailRacer have successfully streamed the International Sailing Summit from Amsterdam in November 2014 and we are looking to utilise their knowledge and expertise in this area to bring our own conference to a wider audience.

SportsXstream and SailRacer are also provided tracking and live video streaming for the RYA Youth National Championships in Weymouth and Portland in early April. This presents an excellent opportunity for all Race Officials to look at this exciting area of technology and see how this might work for promoting their own clubs sailing activities.

In order to be able to view the conference on Saturday from 0930 onwards click on the link RYARO.SailRacer.org to view the event microsite and register for an access code.

A full timetable of the main stage sessions is also available from this site.
