So the end of season 2014 Frostbite & Christmas Series are over; back to home decorating, repairing boats, buying new sails/fittings (don't tell the wife, send them c/o of your club!).

After a 20 race series split into two series, the winner of Frostbite Series 1 was "Frieda", a Finn of Jean-Louis Simons (Rear Commodore Elect), followed by "Black to the Future", a GP14 sailed by Robert Thompson & Alan Jenkins, and in 3rd place "SensationAL", John Carlin's Albacore with a selection of crews.

Winner of Frostbite Series 2 was "Caster & Pollox", the Albacore of Mike Hartley crewed by Jemima Riley. Runners up position went to "Frieda" followed closely by "SensationAL".

The overall winner of the Annie Cup was "Frieda" followed closely in 2nd place by "SensationAL" (John said he's going to buy ALL his crews a drink!). 3rd place went to "Black to the Future", closely followed (not that close) by Trevor Jenkins & Jenny Bromilow in "Charlotte II", a GP14.

The short Christmas Series was comprised of 7 handicap races and a Boxing Day Pursuit race. The Pursuit race with 25 boats coming to the start was won by the Illusion of Richard Cornah sailing "Intrepid". Just 2 feet astern was the GP14 "Black to the Future", 3rd "SensationAL" Albacore and in 4th "Foudroyant" sailed by Peter Bramley in another Illusion.

Competitors gathered for races 4 & 5 only to be greeted with the Marine Lake looking like mirror, After 15 minutes the postponement flags were raised, and sailors returned to the bar!

For race 6, New Years Day Race, competitors were allowed a sleep in, with a noon start and a forecast of winds 13 to 41 knots.

Starting in a breeze of 10 knots, the wind backed and increased in strength to 35 - 40 knots with some crews taking an early bath. Winning the race on handicap and showing the locals how to do it was a Laser sailed by Ian McCloughlin, a visitor from Largs SC. 2nd was "Caster & Pollox" followed by Liam Gardner in a Laser Radial.

The final two races to complete the series were sailed in a nice gentle 2 to 3 with bright sunshine. The winner of race 7 was "Black to the Future", and final winners were "Caster & Pollox".

Some 38 boats turned out for the frostbite series; not a great size fleet, but high in quality. A total of 26 boats turned out for the Christmas series, won by "Caster & Pollox", followed by "SensationAL" and "Charlotte II" sailed by Trevor Jenkins & Sally Bromilow (GP14). Following in 4th was the RS300 "Froglet 4" of Stu Dawson.

Racing resumes in February with a 9 race winter series, and summer evening racing begins with the Laser, Firefly and Solo fleets on Tuesday, March the 31st at 18:45.
