Tasar Worlds 2015 at Busselton, Western Australia - Day 2

by Greg Jennings 5 Jan 2015 18:29 GMT 2-9 January 2015

A light north westerly 'sea breeze' started to fade late in Monday's first race of the Tasar 2015 World Championships, which had a re-start due to a lot of boats being a bit too keen to get going. Although it was light conditions, the flat water allowed for some good boat speed with some big gaps between the leading boats. The big fleet ensures there is congestion at most marks and resulted in quite a few protests.

First place went to Chris Dance and Peter Hackett from Victoria, Australia, on "Doppio". In second place were Rob and Nicole Douglass from New South Wales, Australia, on "Coolit". Third place went to Philip Gordon and Nick Hubbard from the USA on "Radicchio".

The second race of the day was postponed to another day, due to the breeze fading out to calm hot conditions. The series leader after the three races that have been sailed, is Chris Dance and Peter Hackett from Australia.

The Japanese sailors provided a presentation about the next Tasar World Championships which will be in Gamagori, Japan in July/August 2017. It should be a great venue and a great place to visit. More information at www.tasarworlds2017.org. Put this event on your must do list.

The photo is of the race winners and family support crew. The next races of the ten race series are scheduled for Tuesday 6 January. Information and results can be found on the event web site www.tasar2015.com. The event is being hosted by Geographe Bay Yacht Club.
