On Wednesday the first races of the 2014 World Championship started. The weather prediction was correct, 15 knots of regular Northerly wind. There was lots of current that was positive for the Argentinian Dante Cittadini who is first in the final results of this day.
The Argentinian race area is very challenging for many foreign countries because there are not so many places in the world that have these conditions of current, wind, and special chop. It is important to know how to move your body to make the boat pass the waves. Calculating the current is pretty hard. It was Dante from Argentina and Dimitris Padimitrio from Greece who understood the race area and were first in the two races of the day. In third is Nicolas Rolaz from Switzerland.
Dante told us: "It was a good day and tomorrow I will try to do the same if I can", he said he is happy to be at the Worlds with all the OptiSailors. The Greek coach told us: "it's a very diffcult race area because there is a lot of current and we are not used to it". He remarked about how beautiful it is here and how comfortable they feel with the warm argentinian people. Swiss sailor, Nicolas Rolaz arrives from the race with his national flag painted on his cheeks. He is happy, and he said he had a good day. He scored 2nd and 4th in the two races.
12 races are scheduled. Up to 3 races will be sailed on each day. Tomorrow there will be 2 or 3 races but MeteoClim, the Official Championship Weather Forecast, makes a prediction of low winds from the North, shifting to the East. We hope to have enough wind to race tomorrow.
