Ogston Sailing Club hosted the Richard Sadler Memorial Trophy, 6 visitors from as far as West Lanchashire YC and Southampton joined a home fleet of 6 Enterprises to bring a fleet of 12 boats to the start line of a very blustery race 1.

The wind did not disappoint, the course allowed excellent planning downwind however upwind was a different story with the wind touching 30 knots in some of the gusts, these proved testing conditions with the rescue crews kept very busy. Race 1 was won by Martin Honour sailing with Paul Hobson, these two despite an early capsize bided there time to win by a comfortable margin. Crews returned to shore to compare stories which included multiple capsizes, personal injury and a de-masting.

An excellent lunch was provided by Peakdinghy.com with proceeds from the meal being donated to Neurocare.

Race 2 started with slightly fewer boats and a couple of merged teams, all boats suffered at least one capsize however it was Steve Graham & Alex Haliwell who mastered the conditions best to take line honours.

Race 3 took place in what were said to be slightly more moderate conditions with Jonathan Woodward & Karen Alexander holding there nerve in what were still lively conditions to take the race and the event.

The day had produced some exciting sailing a fair few capsizes but as the name of the event suggests, this was held in the memory of Richard Sadler with proceeds from the day's activities totalling some £156 being donated to Neurocare.org.uk who raise money to buy life-saving equipment for use in the neuro wards of Sheffield NHS hospitals.

The winners Jonathan and Karen thanked Ogston Sailing Club for hosting the event and making the fleet very welcome.
