Laser Open at Draycote Water Sailing Club

by Andy Whitehead 23 Sep 2014 10:17 BST 20 September 2014

The Draycote annual Laser Open meeting was held on Saturday 20th September. Despite light airs and shifty conditions the event still attracted 26 boats including 13 visitors and produced some good racing. The event was won by Orkun Soyer, not normally a regular Laser sailor who hired the old Fleet Captain's, William Whittaker's dodgy old boat and despite its pedigree won convincingly; although he was pressed repeatedly by some of our visitors.

The event was undertaken in typical Draycote Lasers good humoured fashion. Congratulations to Anna Griffin our First Lady completing her first Laser Open with a full rig and also visitor Emma Hancox racing with her Radial rig. Unfortunately, we were missing our Fleet Captain Marcellus Pryor, who although he spends his life booking holidays and avoiding diary clashes for his clients managed to book his own holiday this weekend. Last but no least our thanks to the Solo Fleet for running the racing so competently in what were testing conditions.
