Tay Week Dinghy Weekend at Tay Yacht Clubs Association

by Marjory Knowles 29 Jun 2005 06:59 BST 25-26 June 2005

There was a good turnout of dinghies for the Davie Anderson Dinghy Weekend at this year's Tay Week which was held over the 25th/26th June at Royal Tay.

Saturday's racing started in a light breeze which unfortunately died away, resulting in the first race being shortened after only one lap. However the breeze came in to give excellent conditions for the remainder of the day. Montrose's Gordon Tosh in a Solo dominated the Dinghy 2 while Dinghy 1 saw the Merlin Rocket, Hamish Myles (Wormit ) and Chris Smith RS 200 (R.Tay) joint leaders overnight. About half the fleet then took part in the non series , up river, Discovery Race, which was won by Chris Smith/ Howat Duncan in the RS 200.

Sunday saw a light south -westerly breeze fill in and steady and two good races took place with close competition throughout the fleet.Competition was so close that Dinghy 1 saw Hamish Myles just pip Chris Smith on last race to take the overall.
