Singapore will host the curtain-raiser to the 2015 Extreme Sailing Series™ world tour – the first of eight Host Venues across three continents to be revealed, confirmed Series organisers OC sport and Series Main Partner, Land Rover. The event will take place from 5-8 February, when the fleet will return to the heart of the high-rise and cosmopolitan city, just over seven weeks after the 2014 Series concludes in Sydney, Australia. Global asset management company Aberdeen Asset Management will continue to support the Host Venue of Singapore as the local Event Main Partner, with details of a local team to be announced at a later date.

In 2014 Singapore delivered an outstanding event, receiving widespread praise for the spectacular racing that enthralled the public, media and VIP guests alike, with the fleet of Extreme 40s racing on the world famous Marina Bay – one of the tightest and most spectacular inner city courses the Series visits.

Patrick Corfe, Marketing Director at Aberdeen Asset Management Asia Limited, said: "This year the Extreme Sailing Series provided great racing and entertainment. We had more boats, more wind and more spectators. Marina Bay is the perfect environment in which to showcase this elite form of sailing, The brand exposure is very strong and we are excited to be associated with the event again next year."

Andy Tourell, Extreme Sailing Series project director, added: "Over the past eight years, we've taken the Extreme Sailing Series to 25 different and iconic host venues and the sport of sailing to new audiences all around the world, embracing both the challenges and opportunities that a world tour creates. Over those eight years, the concept of Stadium Racing has remained at our core – bringing sailing to the public and sponsor guests – and ultimately that is a key factor in the selection of our host venues. The concept, the boats, our global media coverage and our guest experience continue to make the Series the best value for money sailing sponsorship for brands and host venues. Singapore epitomises our Stadium concept and is an ideal venue to kick start the 2015 circuit."

2015 will be the ninth year of elite level Stadium Racing for the Extreme Sailing Series, and the fifth year as a global circuit. The Series will continue to maintain the highest level of sporting integrity, in the same award-winning Stadium Racing format, taking the fleet of high-performance Extreme 40s to a mix of iconic cities, established sailing venues and markets of strong commercial value to stakeholders.

The Notice of Race for 2015 will be released in the coming weeks, with pre-entry open at that point, and with a maximum Series entry of eight teams plus wildcards – which is important to maintain the Stadium Racing format in all venues.
