by Rick Perkins 19 Jul 2014 15:16 BST 14-17 August 2014

Stokes Bay Sailing Club is gearing up for the Harken UK Musto Performance Skiff National Championships and the Noble Marine Insurance pre-championship coaching.

SBSC will host the Harken UK Musto Performance Skiff 2014 National Championships (14-17 Aug) with sailors attending from all over the UK and Europe due to compete. Situated in the Eastern Solent Stokes Bay SC is home to champions from many classes including the current Musto Performance Skiff National and World Champion, Bruce Keen.

A warm welcome is extended to all visitors and a varied and inclusive social programme awaits, including BBQs, the AGM, the famous Dan Vincent Quiz and music. Sailing in the tidal but sheltered waters of the Solent the venue will provide a challenging test over 4 days for all the sailors with the option to enter for the whole event or just the weekend (separate results will be posted) are available to accommodate as many as possible.

Details of local accommodation and club facilities are available via the clubs website www.stokesbay-sc.co.uk

On Sat 9 Aug there will be training run by Musto class coach Russ Clark, with sponsorship from Noble Marine Insurance reducing the training to a bargain at £10 per boat. Russ is a highly experienced international coach with a relaxed friendly style and having sailed the class for a number of years will provide insight not only on how to make your skiff go faster but local tactical knowledge on how to make the best of your time at Stokes Bay.

Temporary membership is also available from Sat 9 Aug to the start of the event including full use of the club's facilities and the opportunity to join in club racing for £10.

If you have a Musto Skiff there is only one place to be in mid-August - see you at Stokes Bay and come and take on the World's best.

Both days were very gusty and shifty. I'm 74kgs, 5'10" and lightly built these days from too much cycling! Posted on 29 Apr
