In June 2014, Polkerris Beach took delivery of their new RS CAT16 to join their already active fleet of dinghies in Cornwall.

Polkerris Beach Company combines an idyllic sandy Cornish cove with first class watersports facilities. Based close to Fowey in South East Cornwall it is as good for a day trip as for a two-week holiday or intense watersports course.

In June 2014, Polkerris Beach Company received their new RS CAT16 with the main aim for the boat being taster sailing sessions; joyrides and RYA recognised courses. With so many options for visitors and holiday-makers both young and old, Polkerris Beach wanted to add the RS CAT16 to their range to offer a fun and top quality experience at it's Gold award-winning watersports centre. The Cat is used up to 6 days a week in peak season and weekends throughout the year.

Bob Shillito of Polkerris Beach commented; "The RS CAT16 has slotted in perfectly, with hours of fun had on it already. We were aiming to encourage more people to have fun with sailing and banish the age old perception of sailing being too traditional and inaccessible. The RS CAT16, with its sailing performance and modern design does just this."

Polkerris Beach settled on purchasing the RS CAT16 as a commercial decision after seeing the boat at the RYA Susuki Dinghy Show in March this year, and deemed one catamaran would deliver better value than two dinghies as the next step for their centre.

Bob concluded; "We chose the Cat16 because of its modern design that clearly draws on the best elements of older cats, while addressing some of the problems - for example leaks and nose-diving. It has been designed with the needs of sailing centres in mind. The first time we sailed the CAT16, we were impressed by its exceptionally smooth performance and fine balance on the helm. The quality of finish on the components is very good. And we are pleased to say RS sales and marketing is noticeably better than that of other suppliers."
