Just five weeks to until the Allen RS Feva worlds see the competitors gather in the remarkable venue of Carnac, France. The appetite has been whetted by the successful European Championships in Holland at the end of May.

The beach is perfect for the families. The waters are an ideal sporting crucible. More than 180 boats will compete over a combined 14 races in 3 flights for a six race qualifying series and then 8 races in Gold, Silver and Bronze fleets. The eventual victors will have truly deserved their time in the sun. Eighteen countries will be represented on the start line with those from California, USA just out-distancing those from Hong Kong.

The contest for the podium is likely to be intense. The Czechs took the bronze medal at the Europeans with the Dutch taking 4th to 6th. At the UK Nationals the Dutch had a fourth while both they and the Lithuanians scored top 20 results. And the top Italians are always on the cusp and indeed won when the event was held in the UK 2 years ago! Ultimately the results will all sort themselves out with prize categories going to Overall, Men, Women, Juniors and Families categories as well as Silver and Bronze fleets.

There is a team racing competition planned for the lay day on Wednesday assuming that it isn't needed for fleet racing purposes! Each country will have 1 team and this short, hectic and fun form of sailing should be good spectacle. Following it up with a party should make restarting on Thursday quite a challenge!

Anyway, the last time the RS Fevas descended on Carnac en-masse it was an epic week of sport, rivalry and family fun on an international scale. This time with more boats and more countries we are expecting it be yet a notch better. So thanks to Allen Performance Sailboat Fittings as without their generous sponsorship all this would so much harder to make happen. See you in five weeks!
