Online entries are now open for Great Britain's Laser Europa Cup 2014 event which is taking place at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy.

The regatta takes place from the 29 May – 1 June on the same waters used for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic sailing competitions, and all sailors should enter online via the event website before 23:59 (BST) on Sunday 25 May.

As the event coincides with the UK school holidays, a bumper GBR entry is expected and will be a unique opportunity for sailors to compete in a highly competitive fleet on the world class waters of Weymouth and Portland.

The regatta, which will welcome the Laser 4.7, Laser Radial and Laser Standard, will be followed by the Olympic and Paralympic classes 2014 Sail for Gold Regatta (1-6 June) also being held at WPNSA – giving competitors the opportunity to rub shoulders with a number of Olympic and Paralympic athletes.

The Europa Cup series is part of the Europa Cup Trophy and consists of 20 well-established regattas around Europe which take place from April through to December.

Pete Allam, Great Britain's Laser Europa Cup Event Director, commented: "We are very much looking forward to hosting the Laser Europa Cup at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy in just under three weeks' time."

"Although it has been many years since Great Britain has hosted a Europa Cup event, having been the venue for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Sailing events, we look forward to welcoming back sailors who know the venue well and some sailors new to the Olympic circuit for our event within the 2014 Europa Cup series."
