Enterprise Woodcock Salver Event at Snowflake Sailing Club

by Holly Hancock 22 Mar 2014 07:17 GMT 16 March 2014

Four Enterprises turned out for the Woodcock Salver Event at Snowflake Sailing Club's End of Season Regatta in the Norfolk Broads, which was sailed for on Sunday 16th March at Horning in Spring sunshine and challenging breezes.

The experience of Kevin Bilham visiting from Ely SC soon became evident, taking wins in all three races, although Horning SC's young team put up a good fight. Gill Kane crewed for her grand-daughter Natalie Stiff, and they began well, leading the first race up the river, although they were overtaken by Kevin and then Ezra Bailey, crewed by brother Joel.

As the breeze strengthened throughout the day, Natalie capsized and was consequently forced to retire, however she was back for the final race where she finished in a respectable second in the final race. Ezra performed consistently to receive two seconds and a third, with Charlotte Hammond crewed by Izzy Barham-Brown fourth.

The HSC Enterprise Project, funded by the Broads Authority, is still having a positive impact, with young people enjoying the challenge of double-handed sailing, visiting other clubs and improving their sailing. Horning SC are looking forward to a good season ahead, following their recent success in becoming one of the five finalists in the RYA's Club of the Year Award.

Overall Results:

1st 22885, Kevin Bilham (Ely SC)
2nd 1704, Ezra Bailey (HSC)
3rd 19485, Natalie Stiff (HSC)
4th 7073, Charlotte Hammond (HSC)
