Day 1 of Bourne End Week started with 18-20 knots breeze from the south west. The gusty conditions gave competitors a challenging start to the week.
The largest fleet with 17 Merlins saw the closest racing with Simon Blake coming in as leader for the day. The day started with the Cadet Trophy, followed by Martin & Sarah Collen dominating the Wayfarer fleet with 2 bullets.
The OKs were led round by Terry Palmer, Commodore of UTSC, in both races and the Fireflys shared the glory between Rob Cage & Richard Bickford.
The gusty conditions were exceptionally challenging for the 12 Thames A Raters. Despite Martin Hunter, in Redline Sportscars, dominating the first race, Paul Browning, in CIC, took the silverware in the second race.
