Symmetric Grand Prix to be held at Rutland

8-9 October 2005
This year's Symmetric Grand Prix (SGP) will be at Rutland Sailing Club on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th October.
As usual we are expecting a big turn out so to guarantee your place on the start line please register at www.fastsail.org. We've already secured sponsorship in the region of £6K and as always the prizes will go right through all the fleets.
We are delighted to announce that this year the SGP will have two more classes on the start line - the 420s and the Laser 2s.
At the Tiger Trophy this year, many of the 420 sailors were overheard admiring the fastsail boats both on and off the water and many of our members grew up sailing 420s. It's pretty obvious that we have so much in common with the 420 that we hope that they will come and compete and enjoy the Fastsail atmosphere.
We are also really pleased to be welcoming the Laser 2 class to compete at the SGP. It may seem ironic that Fastsail - an organisation formed to promote our classes and compete against the corporate might of some of the large manufacturers is inviting "one of them" to the SGP. However, it seems that Laser2 now have more in common with us! The class association is doing everything it can to sustain itself and we are pleased to support a Class that is clearly run by its members for its members.
Finally, if you live in East Anglia - the first Fastsail Regional happens on 25/26th June at Southwold Sailing Club. We hope to run one of these events every year in different locations around the country.
The event will run on similar lines to the SGP but with a couple of differences;
First, the event has a limit of 40 boats so registration (again at www.fastsail.org) is recommended.
Second, it's on the sea! We recognise that in order to be as inclusive as possible we have to hold the SGP at a central inland location but our boats are just as good on the sea.
So, if you fancy some Fastsailing on the sea, you sail a Fireball, Hornet, Javelin, Flyng Dutchman, 470, Osprey or 505 - come and join us.
Free camping, a hog roast and one of the prettiest parts of the UK - who could ask for more.
