Feature-packed VHF radio range for sailboats

B&G, the world leader in marine instruments, autopilot systems and navigation solutions for sailing, is pleased to announce the new V50 fixed mount, Digital Selective Calling (DSC) VHF radio and the H50 Wireless Handset. The B&G V50 combines an inbuilt dual channel AIS receiver and the latest VHF functionality, while the H50 Wireless handset offers an impressive range and inductive wireless charging – great for use away from the chart table.

Class D compliant for global use, the new V50 sailing VHF also offers an integrated dual channel AIS receiver, which allows AIS reception and VHF use via just one antenna. In areas such as busy shipping lanes or bustling harbours, the V50 offers sailors the ability to see, hear and be heard for increased safety.

The B&G V50 also benefits from plug and play integration, which has many uses such as viewing another yacht's DSC distress call from a Zeus Touch chartplotter screen.

The V50 AIS/VHF radio has dedicated menu and channel keys, separate volume and squelch knobs and a Distress button, along with an ergonomic fist mic. The V50 has selectable Dual and TriWatch modes and a large internal speaker for clear audio.

Additional features include the ability store up to 20 contacts with MMSI details directly onto the VHF and TrackYourBuddy™, which keeps you up to date with your friends' positions by allowing you to connect your VHF DSC position polling with your chartplotter to show the location of up to three sailing friends on the chart display.

Leif Ottosson, CEO of B&G said: "The new B&G sailing VHF radios offer unrivalled functionality and flexibility, from AIS integration to the freedom to move around the sailboat with the H50 handset, this VHF system is the ultimate on water radio solution for every sailor."

The innovative H50 remote handset is the perfect companion for the V50, offering a powerful and compact handheld solution. With a battery life of 8 hours and wireless charging, thanks to a unique induction plate on the back of the device, the H50 is energy efficient and always ready to use!

The B&G H50 has an impressive range from the VHF base and can act as an intercom between another H50 unit or the V50 base station – great for crew to navigator communication! The H50 also has a headphone jack and a belt clip for those who want to keep their hands free to trim sails or move freely.

The V50 is waterproof to JIS-7, with the H50 obtaining IPx7 standard. The V50 VHF and H50 are protected by the B&G Advantage Service Program, which provides a whole host of benefits at no extra cost.

With expected availability from September 2013, the B&G V50 DSC VHF can be purchased from €399 Ex. VAT, the H50 handheld wireless device is available from €169 Ex VAT. For more information on the B&G V50 and H50, or B&G's range of unique sailing electronics, please visit www.bandg.com
