Worldwide growth for the VX One

The VX One © Ovington Boats

The VX One is a fresh and exciting one-design for the international two to three person racing sailor. The design concept is born of a careful review, overseen by Brian Bennett, of performance one-design demographics within this category worldwide. Brian Bennett designed the Viper 640 back in 1996 and has taken this concept of a lightweight sports boat forward a step in the intervening 15 years in designing the VX One which launched in 2011. The thoroughly engineered design, epoxy construction and Southern Spars carbon rig has led to a substantial weight saving.

Ovington Boats are building the VX One in the UK and have been shipping the boats worldwide to satisfy the international market. The boat has been carefully designed so that 8 boats can fit into a 40' shipping container. The Southern Spars carbon rig splits into 2 pieces for economical shipping. Further containers are leaving Ovington's North East yard destined for Melbourne, Australia and Miami, USA.

The first UK boat is destined to hit the water at the Ovington Inlands on the 16/17 November at Grafham Water SC. There has been expression of interest from around the country with a demo tour soon to be announced. The 2013 North America Championships start soon in Texas, USA and a GBR team is travelling to compete against the best from Australia and the USA. Reasonably priced charter boats are available in the USA - Miami in the New Year anyone?

Sailing World labeled the VX One as their 'Overall Boat of the year 2012' as well as 'Best one design'- get in touch with Ovington Boats to try the boat and see what all the fuss is about. UK pricing is to be announced shortly but there will be a introductory offer for early adopters for this exciting new class...
