Laser Open at Rudyard Lake Sailing Club

A steady southerly wind led to some ideal sailing conditions for the 14 Lasers which allowed all three races to be completed before the thunderstorm and torrential downpour set in to make packing away difficult.

Ian Jones from Dovestones led the first race but a misunderstanding of the shorten course rules led to him retiring. He could not afford a slip up in the remaining two races and he didn't disapoint as he took two straight wins to win the evenet. He was hard pressed for most of the day by Michael Sims from Carsington who won the first race and was second to Ian in each of the others.

Adrian Sandilands of Dovestones and Paul Keeling of North Staffs were locked in a keen contest for the third spot. Paul had two third places but just slipped up in the last race to let Adrian in. Wendy Shingler from Dovestones, the only lady helm in the race, took the fifth place.

Michael Thomas was first Rudyard boat in 6th with Luke Bayliss from Carsington taking first junior in 8th place in his radial.
