Past RS Tera sailors compete at the Endeavour Championships

RS Tera a class going places!
The Endeavour Championships hosted by the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club October 12th and 13th 2013.
The Endeavour Championships is a series of races to find the Champion of Champions. This invitation only event sees top competitors from many popular well known classes of boat.
Sailing Topper Xenons, the 25-strong fleet of champions endured testing conditions on the water in a light to moderate winds and strong tidal stream. Racing took place at the mouth of the River Roach a few miles downriver from the host club, the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club.

Many classes are proud of the achievements of their past sailors and the RS Tera Class is no exception, having started in 2006 it is only now that we are seeing the original RS Tera squad sailors make their way to the top of UK sailing. For the first time this year we see not one but two ex Tera Squad sailors being invited to race at the Endeavour Trophy.
Elliot Wells and Crispin Beaumont, both RS Tera World champions, have gone on to perform at the top of their chosen classes. Elliot and crew Jake are both past RS Tera Sailors as well as the current Feva National champions and came 2nd at the 2013 RS Feva World Championsips. Crispin is the current RS Tera Pro World Champion as well as winning the 2013 Topper National series, Topper 4.2 Nationals and coming second at the UK Topper Nationals.
The Endeavour Trophy is an invitational event that gives the top sailors from the major UK classes the opportunity to race each other in identical boats. Elliot with crew Jake and Crispin having been sailing single handers opted to take a crew from his club but elected to go for the optimum crew weight of around 140kg. Most years this would have been a good move but this year there was little to no wind! Both of them did well considering they were up against the the best adult dinghy sailors in the country. Elliot finished in 15th with his best result a sixth and Crispin finished in 19th with his best result an 8th.
Both Crispin and Elliot will be competing in 29er next season. Everyone eventually moves on but as you can see, for younger sailors the RS Tera is proving that it is a great place to start.
