Most people know Killington by the motorway service station on the M6 motorway near to Kendal and Sedbergh. 17 competitors all arrived to be greeted from the sailing club. The briefing soon took place, the weather was very cloudy with hill fog just visible 20 metres above the water level of the lake.

Race 1 soon approached with Tim Sadler & Richard Sault (Ripon) moving in to first as they went round the windward buoy. Matt Valemail & Tim Brownhill (Ulley) was in second, these two seemed to pull away from the rest of the pack and finish in the same order. Third place was really up for grabs as many boats found themselves in third. Martin & Abigail Honor (Ogston) eventually finished in third, Jonathan Woodward & Karen Alexander (south staffs) and Steve Blackburn & Kaye Tickle (WLYC) in 5th.

Race 2, the cloud was ever getting lower so viability was poor for the start of the race. Alan Johnson & Paula Fisher (SCYC) rounded the windward mark first and they never looked back winning the race. Alan admitted to the use of his compass up the last beat as viability was so bad from the hill fog. Ges Brown & Julie Moore (Chester) came in 2nd, 3rd was Jonathan, 4th was Martin and 5th was Tim Sadler.

Some competitors stayed at the sailing club to have a home cooked food, which was enjoyed by all. The other competitors left the sailing club to visit the town of Sedburgh to find a wonderful town. The night time entertainment was Jack Lawson & Chris Morphet Vinyl Disco. Believe it or not the disco was brilliant as you entered the room it felt like you had arrived at an inner city Nightclub. The Enterprise Association have the best Socials! As usual we all drunk the bar dry.

Race 3, Sunday morning the weather was a lot better than the previous day as it was warmer and a bit more breeze 2 – 4 force. Alan had not slowed down and won the race. 2nd was Tim and Martin in 3rd Ges Brown in 4th and Phil Snewin & Ros Coleman (Chester) in 5th.

Race 4, The start line had been very small throughout the weekend and this race was no exception the OD was very good with the Black Flag rule using the flag after the third start. This created lots of recalls on most of the races. This time Matt had created the best start and finished the race in 1st. Ges Brown again finished in 2nd, with Tim in 3rd Alan in forth and Martin in 5th. This race course caused a lot of problems as many sailors had to retire from the race due to sailing the wrong course. This ended quite a few sailors weekend as well. Shame the course hadn't been thought through.

Race 5, The championship was still up for grabs, with potentially 6 sailors with in a chance of winning the event. Again three restarts took place. Martin managed to find the wind first and never looked back, winning the race. 2nd was Alan, 3rd was Jonathan, 4th was Matt and 5th was Steve.

This means the Enterprise North West Area Champion for 2013 is Alan Johnson & Paul Fisher (SCYC). Thanks to Killington for organizing a great event.
