Crewsaver 2000 Millennium Series at Bala Sailing Club

by Jenny Macgregor 6 Oct 2013 22:25 BST 5-6 October 2013

A small but very competitive group of eight 2000s met at Bala Sailing Club for the Crewsaver Millennium Series event 6 and Welsh Championships.

The wind blew a very pleasant force 2–3 straight up the lake – and three very competitive races were won by three different boats.

Overnight leaders James and Jenny Macgregor felt less than optimistic about their chances of retaining the lead when the fleet were meet by significantly stronger winds on Sunday – still straight up the lake, but now force 5–6.

Local sailors John and Sarah Hayward took three bullets to finish first overall, and took the coveted Welsh Championship Trophy home, while Iain and Sarah Yardley (Scottish Champions) had to settle for second place, having also been second overnight. Third place went to another Welsh team, Helen and Andrew Phillips, and yet another Welsh team, Guy and Julie Boswell, won the Endeavour Prize.

Thanks to Bala Sailing Club for their hospitality, and especially to Dave and Kate Eccles who did a fantastic job as Race Officers. Thanks also to our sponsors, Crewsaver.
