On Saturday the 28th, Scaling Dam hosted the Laser Lakeland and Far North Grand Prix, a marvellous event which involved many talented sailors. The wind was perfect as the wind speed started as a gentle 10 knots slowly picking up to around 15. With it being a southerly breeze it brought shifty conditions. Thankfully our race committee were on the ball and moved the start line accordingly to make a suitable course.
Thank you to all the sailors that turned up to make some interesting races, there was a battle for 1st place between Radial sailor Simon Weatherspoon from Derwent and Standard sailor Stuart Belfield from Leigh and Lowton, with both sailors finishing on joint points, Stuart having
the lower discard grabbed first place just in front of Simon. Following them Meg Backhouse from Yorkshire Dales finishing 3rd, Georgia Booth from Scaling Dam finishing 4th and Peter Snowdon from Scaling Dam finishing 5th.
Overall the event was a great success with thanks to the host club for making the racing fair and fun.
