Nice 24-26 May Stand M1-2
Connect your boat to the world, with the electronics of the future
Raymarine will be showing its H6 integrated electronics system on Stand M1-2 at Seas2005. The event takes place at The Acropolis, Nice, from 24-26 May.
Raymarine H6 provides the very latest in marine electronics, by integrating marine navigation, radar, entertainment and information technology into a comprehensive and customisable innovative marine system. Raymarine H6’s advanced control features include Lifeline, a crew safety reporting system, and multiple camera CCTV, which can be used to cover on board blind spots such as the engine room, or for remote viewing and monitoring of the vessel from anywhere in the world.
Two computer systems for navigation and entertainment
Raymarine H6 comprises two professional marine computers; one for navigation and one for entertainment, protecting Raymarine H6 against single point failure with the entertainment computer able to serve as an online spare for the navigation computer.
Using the Command Environment
Raymarine H6 is a ‘command environment’, with a Command Centre on every helm. Each command centre has two large, flat panel, high-resolution, high-contrast sunlight viewable colour displays, and a track ball that is used to control the system. There is also a single-screen option available as a second station on a dual station boat. The windows-style operating system makes it easy to access data, set up, view and change the displays.
Users simply set the data to be shown in the style of their choice – graphic, chart or alphanumeric. Basic information is displayed even when main windows are minimised. There are pre-set modes for Harbour and Planning, Manoeuvring, Pilotage, Coastal and Offshore passage making, and Anchorage.
By altering a display on one of the command centres, the others will automatically reflect that alteration. This provides all the information required to control the boat from every helm position.
Fully customisable displays and information system
The way in which Raymarine H6 displays information can be changed both in layout and appearance to suit the boat and boat owner. The large, high resolution, flat panel screens will show the information required, when it’s required. When underway, for example, the large radar display shows position, course, speed and autopilot performance; when manoeuvring at close quarters in a marina, the boat owner may prefer to see wind speed and direction, leeway, and speed over the ground. Multiple application windows are viewable and can be operated on one screen or panoramically across two screens.
Wealth of information from the displays
The displays available on the Command Centre screens include all the expected navigational information, plus a whole lot more. A useful feature on the course display for example, is the ability to see trend graphs allowing the skipper to optimise for speed and fuel economy. World-class radar can be combined with chart displays for radar and weather overlay displays. The results of advanced echo-sounder technology, using Raymarine’s award winning DSM300 module, can be seen with startling clarity - good for fish finding and good for anchorage/bottom structure information.
The Lifeline crew safety system
Crew safety is paramount, and Raymarine H6 includes Lifeline, a positive reporting system that is permanently ‘on’. This is achieved using a combination of continually transmitted signals and two radio receivers. Each crew member is given an activated radio transmitter in the form of a key sized tag, which will stop working if the crew goes overboard.
The absence of the signal for ten seconds sets off an alarm. The Lifeline will immediately record the vessel’s speed, position and course, enabling the skipper to retrace his course and increase the chances of carrying out a fast and successful rescue.
See and be secure with CCTV
Raymarine H6 will also drive a multiple camera CCTV system. These can be positioned to cover blind spots such as the bow or aft deck/bathing platform when docking, keep an eye on the engine room, or even to check on the progress of work. In addition, the CCTV can be used for security on board.
By using the internet and the remote viewing capability of the CCTV, Raymarine H6 can be used to monitor the boat and the local conditions from anywhere in the world.
All round, on board Entertainment System
Raymarine H6 comprises a fully remote controlled separate entertainment console plus a DVD/CD player, with terrestrial and satellite TV. The Raymarine H6 can be used to control plasma or LCD screens throughout the boat, with a state-of-the-art 12-channel (50W RMS per channel) zoneable surround sound system. The helm navigation display can also be viewed on any connected screen on board, providing instant access to vital information.
The second Command Centre screen can be used for entertainment viewing, without compromising the navigation and information displays. Intended for use alongside or at anchor, this facility can be programmed to become inoperable at over 1kt boat speed.
