Following the success in 2012 in getting 6 Minisails together to race for the first time in many a year, the Minisail Class Association is again joining with the CVRDA for their 2013 Nationals. It is to be held in conjunction with the cvrda National Rally at Hunts SC, St Ives, Cambridgeshire, over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

We shall have competitors coming from all over the UK, and also from Belgium, where the class is growing in popularity. The unusual photograph was taken by Dean Martin from the bow of his boat whilst sailing at a Belgian meeting.

The format for the weekend will be pretty simple. On Saturday, there will be a chance not only to get some race coaching from the 2012 Minisail and cvrda National Champ, but also to swap boats around and have a go both in other Minisails and other types of boat.

Sunday will be the main racing day, with 3 races for the Minisails within the cvrda handicap racing – it is possible to qualify for both events, all for one entry fee!

Monday will see a concours d'elegance for all the boats at the meeting, including the Minisails. Unlike car shows, everybody gets a vote – the one you like most on the land, on the water, and the one you'd like to take home with you!

Following this we shall retire back to the water for a final Pursuit race to decide who will be National Champion for 2013.

Mixed up in all this will be good food, some excellent beer, wonderful company and even a place to park a tent. What more could you ask for from a weekend of sailing?

So if you own a Minisail, can borrow one, or even if you would like to have a go in one, please come and join us at Hunts.

More information on the Minisail can be found at, more about the CVRDA National Rally at, and more about Hunts SC at
