This weekend saw the 4th round of the 2013 BLSA B series Championship hit the windzone on the beach at Uphill, Weston Super Mare, this is the venue of the European Blokart Championships 20-22 Sept later this year.

Conditions were slightly difficult with a low high tide washing the beach and the sand suffering from the last few weeks of sun and little rain but the winds looked good enough to enable us to race. There were 51 entrants with many travelling from around the country to try the Euros location, and of course enjoy a weekend of fun racing, this is the highest turnout this year and this year the cheapest event of the series, it was sponsored and organised kindly by Chris Moore of Weston Windsport who is heavily involved in the organisation of this years Euros.

Saturday racing started mid-morning and was initially good but the winds and beach were exhausted by the last race of the day near 4pm when the tide was nearly lapping at our wheels. The hard work of the Race officers and Marshalls working non-stop enabled us to complete 4 races in production and performance and this was very good work in view of what lay ahead of us on Sunday. Unfortunately many of the heavier competitors myself included were having to wheel their karts with their hands to assist keeping momentum up and stop Saturday afternoon when the gusts dropped.

Sunday started well but unfortunately the wind dropped through the morning and racing was abandoned at midday. Overall we managed enough races for a result and most left after prize giving a few staying on to enjoy the weather.

Many thanks to Chris, the other organisers, helpers and Marshalls who helped to make it a great weekend. Lastly thanks to all the competitors who made it another good friendly weekend of fun racing and look forward to seeing you all at the next B series in in Northern Ireland on 24/25th August at Ballykelly Airfield, Limavady.
