NHEB returned to the Solo Eastern series circuit after a 4 year absence. Although a small lake, the 'blue lagoon' is uninterrupted by any navigational hazards, making it possible to set a good course regardless of wind direction. The club also made the effort with their hospitality of an attractive buffet lunch and afternoon tea & cakes.

The six home boats were joined by 11 visitors, making for a well grouped fleet. Former club member, Ewan Birkin-Walls got away well in the first race, chased closely by Vince Horey and Godfrey Clark until Clark headed to the wrong mark, leaving Rob Laurie to take the third place. The second race was held back to back with the forecast that the breeze would fade. Clark was first round the windward mark and was never challenged as the breeze backed to the south, while his closest challenger, Jarvis Simpson capsized while tacking, gifting second to Ewan.

The course was reset after lunch, again with two good beats. Ewan again grabbed a modest lead and never put a foot wrong in the constant small wind-shifts, while Dave Walford took a flier on the shorter beat to grab second from Vince and Godfrey. Ewan's win was decisive, but Godfrey took second overall by virtue of winning the second race.

Overall Results:

1st Ewan Birkin-Walls - 5135 (Grafham Water SC) 2pts
2nd Godfrey Clark - 4803 (Fishers Green SC) 5pts
3rd Vince Horey - 5280 (King George SC) 5pts
4th Dave Walford - 5320 (Broadwater SC) 5pts
5th Keith Smith - 5226 (King George SC) 5pts
