GJW Direct 2024 Dinghy

Pico National Championships to be held at GJW Direct SailFest

by Brenda Hoult 29 Apr 2013 15:38 BST 24-25 August 2013

SailRacer are delighted to announce the 2013 Pico National Championships as the latest addition to GJW Direct SailFest, the exciting new August event at Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy (the 2012 games sailing venue).

A popular dinghy for first steps afloat, there will be Pico sailing to suit all levels, from novice to championship contender, over the August Bank Holiday weekend 2013. The Championship event will take the form of a family-orientated training day on the Saturday with all points races to be held on the Sunday.

The event is open to single or double handed crews with a strong emphasis on fun - in previous years the event has seen entrants from 5 years old to nearly 60, so there really are no limits.

No boat? No problem... there are Pico taster sessions, Pico day hire (with race entry included) and a variety of other dinghies to hire for the day.

The SailFest racing culminates in a big pursuit race on Monday 26th August and any Pico owner wanting to take part can extend their entry fee to include the Bank Holiday race. So 1, 2 or 3 days sailing, with or without your own Pico, with 1 or 2 crew. Anything goes!

The Pico Nationals entry site is here.

Visit the SailFest website for full event details.
