Prysmian 747 finishes 2nd in the Demi Clé 6.50

by Stefania Salucci, Prysmian 747 15 Apr 2013 13:00 BST 14-15 April 2013

The first race of the year for Prysmian 747 ended yesterday at 18:52, with a second position for the Italian Boat.

Giancarlo Pedote and Sébastien Josse, skipper of the Multi 70 Edmond de Rothschild (Gitana Team) crossed the finish line in just 7 minutes from the prototype 800, led by Grégoire Gwenole Gahinet and Moul.

Giancarlo describes his Demi Clé:

"The race developed in weather conditions characterized by a wind of 15 knots, which was attenuated during the day.

"We were in first position at the passage by the first mandatory buoy (the lighthouse Birvideaux) but, despite our control position over the fleet, 10 miles before the arrival we were overtaken by the proto 800 due to a decrease of the wind."

An experience however useful and enjoyable:

"It 's been a pleasure to sail with Séb and discuss with him several important aspects that can be improved in a boat characterized by an innovative hull like the 747."

The race, whose departure has been postponed one day because hostile weather conditions that would have cause difficulties to many new crews, took place on a shorter route (54 miles).

"I think that postpone the departure was a wise decision, because for many teams this was the first race and the weather of Saturday was very challenging. With this delay, the Committee has made it possible to everyone to enjoy the race and to arrive at the port without any particular damage."

During the next days, Prysmian 747 will remain docked at the port of Pornichet, waiting for the next race: "I've already turned page,I'm already working on the preparation of Select 6.50, which will start from Pornichet Saturday, April 20. This will be a solo regatta and I really want to experience what I have learned during my winter training."
