Sunshine and light winds greeted the 7-strong Dragoon fleet and just 3 16's at Highcliffe this weekend for the second Wildwind TT.
The rigours of the RYA Youth Regatta at Largs coupled with looming exams meant that only locals and enthusiasts turned out to race 16's, which was a shame because the club, sailing waters and racing were all excellent.
The Dragoon fleet saw close racing on the first day but Adam Butler and Robert Moore got 3 firsts in the end as did Luke Butler and Kate England in the 16.
Sunday dawned fine, with a reasonably constant Force 3 all day, albeit with some serious chop. The Butler brothers again won all races exploiting the knowledge of their home waters, however the conditions produced excellent racing which was enjoyed by all. Felix Kennington and Mark Treviss-Bell had the best results of the Dragoon Charter fleet who all sailed well considering the conditions.
Good to see Tim Taylor and Chris Laming showing the youth crews that you are never heavy enough to capsize!
Thanks to Highcliffe Sailing Club for an excellent event and to Hobie Cat Centre in Poole for the excellent prizes.
