Over ninety competitors gather

At the beautiful and picturesque town of Cres starts tomorrow the International One Meter Class European Championship. Although the weather was not ideal more than 90 competitors from all around the world have gathered here to participate. The radio controlled boats they use have nothing to be jealous of a normal one. Boat and sail sizes are just scaled down to conform to the IOM Class rules and the attention to detail that is given proves that these competitors take this event seriously.

Today, under the cloudy sky of Cres, an exhibition race was organized inside the small port of the city. Although the wind was marginal, even for these boats, the competitors did not lose the chance of testing their boats performance just before they start racing tomorrow. This was also a great chance for the people that live here to enjoy this beautiful image of the colorful fleet filling the, usually quiet during this period, port.

The opening ceremony followed right after at the city's center where the organizing committee, but also the city's mayor welcomed the competitors warmly and wished them to have a successful championship

The fleet tomorrow will be divided in 5 equal heats that will race more than 15 races against each other. So the week that follows is expected to be full of racing action that is not to be missed.
