Merlin Rocket class congratulate Luke Patience and Stuart Bithell

Well done to Stuart Bithell and Luke Patience, Olympic debutants and now Olympic silver medalists.

Stuart cut his teeth sailing a Merlin Rocket in the late 90’s, with help from his uncle Richard Whitworth and the Merlin fleet at Hollingworth Lake SC and was Merlin National Champion 2010.

He is one of the many Olympians the Merlin class has produced, a hugely talented sailor and an absolute gentleman.

Winning the Silver medal in the Men's 470 Class is an awesome achievement, and the medal couldn’t have gone to a more highly respected sailor.

DeMay and Thames Series Opens held over the weekend Nine boats enjoyed the Merlin Rocket class Vintage event at UTSC on Saturday 6th September 2025.
