Notice of Race and Registration now open for 2012 Melges 32 Worlds

by International Melges 32 Class Association 13 Apr 2012 08:23 BST 20-29 September 2012

The Notice of Race (NOR) is now available for the 2012 Melges 32 World Championship taking place on September 20-29, hosted by the prestigious New York Yacht Club (NYYC).

Online Registration is also open at the Official 2012 Melges 32 World Championship Event Website.

"On behalf of the International Melges 32 Class Association (IM32CA), it is with great pleasure that I invite every Melges 32 team to Newport, Rhode Island for the 2012 World Championship," says Carlo Alberini, International Class Chairman. "Rich in yachting heritage, Newport is one of the most beautiful sailing cities in North America. Its stunning September weather will provide the perfect conditions for our fourth World Championship. The New York Yacht Club has a long standing tradition of hosting great world championships, and undoubtedly they guarantee excellence in regatta management."

Onsite registration is scheduled to begin on September 20th, Pre-Worlds warm-up competition will be held on September 22-23, and five days of full on World Championship racing starts on September 25th running through September 29th.

The Newport event is expected to attract one of the largest fleets ever assembled in Melges 32 World Championship history. Complementing a very talent-laden North American contingent, high-caliber teams from Europe, Japan and Australia will battle fiercely for the Class' most coveted title.

In addition to registering as soon as possible, teams are encouraged to carefully review and take advantage of the special dockage packages offered in coordination with Sail Newport. More details can be found at the Official Event Website.
