Enterprise Open at Snowflake Sailing Club

by Kevin Bilham 20 Mar 2012 19:03 GMT 18 March 2012

Snowflake hosted the first of the Broads Area Open of 2012 with 5 boats attending.

Race 1 - Kevin Bilham crewed by Jamie Cammann lead from the start with James and Laura Galloway in 2nd thoughout the race. Jonas Osborne, crewed by Holly Hancock followed in 3rd while Natalie Stiffe crewed by Martina Jurgewkz remained in 4th. Unfortunately Anna Bunn and Lucy Drew were forced to retire.

Race 2 - Kevin and James where neck and neck as they arrived at the 1st mark, Kevin just managing to round 1st, Jonas, who had changed crew to Kim West, where just behind in 3rd place, After a good beat Kevin managed to get clear of the rest of the fleet leaving James in a clear 2nd with Jonas and Natalie fighting it out for 3rd and 4th. Jonas managed to clear Natalie for 3rd place.

Race 3 - Kevin decided to not race leaving the 4 Horning boats to decide the final trophy. James led with Natalie close on his heels. With the wind dying it was anybody's race. At the penultimate mark, James still only had a nose in front of Natalie who had managed to get well clear of the other two boats. Unfortunatly Natalie was unable to cathch James by the line, giving James the final race trophy.

At the prize giving a special award was presented to Natalie and Martina for the most improved sailor's of the day.
