Australian entries are now open for the Sail Noumea 2012 Brisbane to Noumea Ocean Race. Departing from Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron in Manly, the event will consist of the Brisbane to Noumea Ocean Race departing Sunday 3 June and the Brisbane to Noumea Passage Cruise Rally departing Sunday 27 May (entries for the rally open Monday 20 February).

Sail Noumea is the combined effort of RQYS, Royal Akarana Yacht Club in Auckland, New Zealand and Cercle Nautique Caledonien in Noumea, New Caledonia. The new beachfront Royal Tera Hotel & Resort in Noumea will act as race headquarters with many of the competitors and supporters staying there after the race.

In Noumea, CNC will arrange berthing for all participating yachts and host the Tri-Nations Harbour Race. A post race cruise rally south to the Isle of Pines will depart from Noumea Monday 11 June for an expected eight day run.

The event is Category 1 with proof of stability required for entry. Races will be conducted under IRC and PHS in Short-Handed and Fully Crewed categories.

After the success of the first two Information Evenings, RQYS will be hosting two more on various topics in relation to offshore sailing to be held on Wednesday 21 March and Wednesday 19 May 2012.
